Terms of Service

These terms are the rules for using Overgrow (overgrow.io), the game, its website and its servers. By playing or using the site you agree to them. What we collect and how we use it is in our Privacy Policy. Questions go to us on Discord.

The game

• Overgrow is free to play in your browser. It is in beta: it changes often, and features, modes, servers and balance can be added, changed or removed at any time.
• We try to keep the servers up, but the game can be down, restarted or interrupted at any time, and a fight in progress can be lost when it is.
• Overgrow can also be played inside other websites (such as itch.io and Game Jolt). Those sites have their own terms for their own pages.

Accounts and names

• You can play as a guest, or sign in with Google or Discord to keep an account. You are responsible for your account and for what is done with it.
• Usernames are 4 to 16 letters or numbers. Names that are rude, hateful, or pretend to be someone else are not allowed; we may refuse or change them.
• You can change your username once a week.
• Do not share, sell, buy or trade accounts.

Play fair

You may not:

• use cheats, hacks, modified game clients, scripts, macros or other tools that give you an unfair advantage or play for you;
• let a bot, an automated browser or an AI agent play for you;
• attack, overload or disrupt the servers, or try to get into parts of the service that are not yours;
• use a bug to crash the game or the servers, or to ruin other people's games on purpose;
• team up with the other side, throw fights, or play against yourself to farm ratings, XP or rewards.

The game checks for cheating and automation. A player caught breaking these rules can be removed from the game, and an account can be suspended or removed.

Chat and behaviour

• Be decent. Do not harass, threaten or bully other players, post hateful content, share anyone's personal information, or spam.
• Chat is filtered for bad language by default. You can turn the filter off in Settings to see chat as it was written - what you then see is your choice.
• You are responsible for what you write. Messages can be reported, and abuse can get an account removed.

Skins, gold, XP and ratings

• Skins, gold, XP, levels, ratings and anything else you earn in the game are part of the game. They have no money value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are not your property.
• Do not sell or buy them, or accounts that hold them, for money or anything else outside the game.
• We may change how they work, how they are earned, or what they look like.

Ads

• When ads are shown they are only on the main menu - never during a game.
• A signed-in player can choose to watch a video ad on the menu for a 15% XP boost for one hour, once an hour. Watching is optional. The boost is only given for an ad that is watched to the end, and only to the account that watched it.
• Ads are provided by an ad network, which has its own terms and privacy choices (you can open its privacy choices from the menu's Settings when ads are shown).

Our game and content

Overgrow - its code, art, names and content - belongs to us. Do not copy, resell or redistribute the game or its files, or run your own copy of our servers, without our permission.

Ending your use

• You can stop playing at any time. To have your account deleted, ask us on Discord.
• We may suspend or remove an account, or remove a player from the game, for breaking these terms or to protect other players and the service.

No guarantees

Overgrow is provided "as is", without any warranty. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss or damage from using the game or the site, including lost progress, items or accounts.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change we update them here and change the date at the top. Playing after a change means you accept the new terms.
